Consider Acupuncture For Pain

If You Suffer From Pain, Consider Acupuncture

Recent research has proven that acupuncture can provide a viable treatment for pain that has not responded to prescription drug medication. Also, in cases where drugs have worked, people are seeking out acupunture as a more natural solution. Regardless of whether the pain comes from arthritis, severe headaches (including migranes), back pain or joint pain, acupuncture can offer you the very real possibility of relief.

As you probably know, acupuncture is the insertion of very fine needles into the skin at certain points. This is thought to release pent up energy and allow it to once again begin flowing through the body freely. The practice of acupuncture originated in China, and practicioners believe that essential life energy “Qi” (pronounced Chi) flows through a persons body along invisible channels known as “Meridians”. It is thought that when a person's life energy becomes blocked at certain points, it leads to the development of pain. The insertion of the needles allows the energy to once again flow freely to all parts of the body, thereby reducing the pain that they experience.

Acupuncture Arthritis Pain Treatment

Basically, arthritis is the inflammation of the body's joints, ligaments, or tendons. Some people may have a mild form of arthritis (joint stiffness) while others suffer more crippling effects. Normally arthritis is more severe when a person rises in the morning. There are different forms of arthritis such as rheumatoid, osteoarthritis, and gout which can cause unimaginable pain to those suffering from them.

Acupuncture treatment can usually reduce the pain that the arthritis sufferer is feeling within 3-4 sessions. Normally 4 to 10 needles are inserted into the skin and the patient is then made to relax for between 30 to 40 minutes to allow the treatment to work. The needles are inserted into points on the body which lie along the meridian lines overlying a persons muscles or other tissues in the body, but never into spinal cord, brain, chest, blood vessels, abdominal organs, arteries or veins.

Acupuncture for Treating Sinus Headaches and Migraines

Migraines and sinus problems are characterized by pounding, throbbing, and pulsating nerves in the head. While most migraine pain is located in one specific part of the head, sinus headache often result in pain to the entire temple, eyes and areas around a person's nose. Some normal symptoms relating to such headaches include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, fatigue, photophobia (extreme sensitivity to light), and frequently extreme irritability.

Certainly many people have found that traditional Western medicines can not cure their sinus or migraine headaches. Some of these people have tried acupunture, and were surprised to find that it seemed to do the impossible. Individuals with sinus and migrane problems will usually be treated using manual and auricular acupuncture methods. Manual acupuncture is the manual manipulation of the needles by the acupuncturist by twirling them and no electrical stimulation is used. Auricular acupuncture is the insertion of either needles or electro acupunctoscopes at certain points on the outer ear which then provide the necessary stimulation to the proper areas of the body.

Acupuncture For Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

People who have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome will often complain of pain, tingling and numbness to their hands, fingers and even sometimes the elbow. One method of acupuncture which can help to relieve this pain is scalp needling. This is when the needles are inserted at various points on a person's scalp and also on their hands and face. This form of treatment also includes the application of magnets, taped metal pellets and staples to Acupuncture Points on a persons body, earlobes, face and tongue in order to provide them with better and quicker results.

It has also been found that acupuncture works effectively on treating people suffering from Fibromyalgia, back pain or soft tissue pain, so if you suffer from any of those maladies, or any of the issues listed above, you can not go wrong by investigating acupuncture further. All you have to lose is your pain!
